That quality and ability is driven by many factors be that experience, training and learning, mentoring levels, processes and governance, management ability and indeed the abilities of the individuals. Often, executives and senior management outside of IT do not know how to develop their IT Managers into the IT Directors the firm now needs them to be. This can be due to not understanding the technical elements of the job or, simply, not having the time or skills. Conversely, IT managers may not know how to become the IT Director without help.
