Organisation Design
Helping the IT team achieve excellence.

In the main, with the exceptions of mergers, organisations grow organically and additional services and teams are “bolted on” as needs arise. IT departments grow and expand without any conscious attention to an organisation structure.
The result can be an unwieldy organisation design structured around individuals rather than designed for efficient operation and clarity on roles and responsibilities.
Often, the only documentation is an organisation chart and job descriptions that may have been written when an individual was recruited and are generally out of date.
There can be little attention paid to the flow of information in a department and clarity of how the department functions leaving new recruits to be mentored in how the department functions using word-of-mouth techniques.
All of the above lead to ineffective and inefficient IT departments and Lights-On’s organisation review and development process will apply a combination of organisation design theory with many 10’s of years’ experience of designing and re-designing IT departments to get the most out of them.
