The senior management team at Stratagem was keen to develop an IT environment fit for future growth and sought advice from Lights-On Consulting.
Stratagem was formed in 1999 to respond to a developing need within the biotechnology industry for clear and decisive strategic advice and management of intellectual property and has expanded to cover different technology fields. Based in Cambridge and Bristol, the firm offers full patent, trade mark and associated intellectual property services.
A key priority for the IT project was to work closely with the senior management team to understand the business goals and how they saw technology working within the firm. To deliver this priority, our first step at Lights-On was a strategic IT Review.
Stratagem’s strategic IT review
Lights-On completed a comprehensive IT review for Stratagem, which provided detailed output on how to move the firm forward. To ensure clarity, the Lights-On consultants communicated the strategic IT review report in plain English, with commercial awareness and minimal use of technical jargon.
In line with the project’s key priority, the report consistently referred back to how the technology could support the businesses objectives. The report also included a broad plan on which the senior management team could agree.
Lights-On’s role
Stratagem IPM had ambitious timelines and Lights-On was agile enough to deliver a programme of works that delivered against the agreed plan, budget, and timescales, which involved:
- working closely with new and existing suppliers
- facilitating the procurement process
- project managing the implementation and migration projects
- utilising and strengthening supplier relationships where appropriate
- helping Stratagem move to a mix of public and private cloud environments
- delivering secure, well-functioning, quality devices for all staff
We maintained open channels of communication throughout, as it was very much a collaborative project between Stratagem, Lights-On Consulting and Stratagem’s suppliers.
